There are many origins and legends about Laba porridge, and there are different opinions in different places. Among them, the most widely circulated is the story about commemorating Sakyamuni becoming a Buddha. According to legend, Sakyamuni practiced ascetic practice, and had no time to take care of his personal clothing and food. On the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month, he came to the country of Magadha and fainted due to hunger and exhaustion. A cowherd woman in the village fed him milk porridge made from milk of cows and horses, rice, millet and fruits to restore his vitality. , and then Sakyamuni sat under the Bodhi tree to “enlighten the Tao and become a Buddha”.

Since then, on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month, the day when my teacher Sakyamuni Buddha became enlightened, it has become a grand and solemn anniversary of Buddhism, and the Laba Festival comes from this.
