What are the custom activities for Halloween

1. Haunted

Halloween is the most “haunted” time of the year, when all kinds of monsters, ghosts, pirates, alien visitors and witches are dispatched. Before the era, the Celtics held ceremonies in late summer to thank God and the sun for their blessings. At that time, fortune-tellers lit and used witchcraft to drive away demons and ghosts that were said to be wandering around. Later, the harvest festival celebrated by the Romans with nuts and apples merged with the Celtic’s October 31st. In the Middle Ages, people put on animal costumes and scary masks to drive away ghosts in the dark on the eve of Halloween. Although religion later replaced Celtic and Roman religious activities, the early customs remained.

2. Face makeup

Halloween costumes are all in all appearances, not just monotonous big ghosts and little ghosts. To make the simplest ghost costume, put a white sheet on the head and cut two holes to leave the eyes; if you want to play the magician, wear black clothes and black trousers, then wear a black top hat, and put the top hat on top of your head. Hidden a fluffy bunny in between; the child puts on white clothes and white pants, and then ties a flashlight on his back to dress up as a little angel; there are also parents who dress up the child as a cartoon image they like.

3. Ask for candy

Halloween originated from the ancient Celtic New Year festival. It is also a time to worship the dead. While avoiding the interference of evil spirits, it also worships ancestral spirits and good spirits with food to pray for safety through the harsh winter. The children would put on makeup and masks and collect candies from door to door that night.

4. Pumpkin lantern (Jack’s lamp)

Pumpkin lantern is the most important symbol of Halloween. It originated in Ireland. The legend goes like this: There was a man named Jack who was very stingy and was driven out of heaven by God. However, he was expelled from hell for teasing Xedan, and he was punished to light the road with a lantern and walk on the earth forever. In Ireland, lanterns are made of hollowed out large potatoes and radishes, with very thin candles lit in the middle. Similarly, the phrase “no sugar, bad luck” is also from Ireland. At that time, under the name of MuckOlla, children went from house to house begging for food to be eaten during the Halloween eve celebrations. English children wear other people’s clothes and masks on Halloween, begging for “ghost cakes.”

5. Bite an apple

The most popular game on Halloween is “Bite the Apple”. During the game, people let the apple float in a basin full of water, and then asked the children to bite the apple with their mouth without using their hands. Whoever bites first is the winner.

6. Hold parties and send greeting cards

The school is closed on Halloween. Sometimes schools come forward to organize evening parties, and sometimes students who are unwilling to be lonely organize small evening parties themselves; and sending greeting cards between friends and family members to wish Happy Halloween has become a popular custom in October every year.
