Cable Control Elbow Shell Prosthetic Upper Limbs

Cable Control Elbow Shell

Basic structure of the upper arm prosthesis

Modern upper arm prostheses generally consist of a full-contact receptacle that wraps the shoulder, with a harness, an upper arm tube, an elbow joint, a forearm tube, a wrist joint, a prosthetic hand and a corresponding control system. The upper arm tube is fixed on the receiving cavity and is connected with the forearm tube through the elbow joint. The forearm barrel is connected to the prosthetic hand through the wrist joint.

Decorative upper arm prosthesis

Assembled with passive modular parts and a decorative prosthetic hand. The structure and connection of the upper arm and forearm depends on the structure of the elbow joint, when using the modular elbow joint, the upper arm and forearm are shaped with a foam decorative jacket. When using the hinged elbow joint, the upper arm and the forearm are connected in the form of an arm tube. Decorative or passive decorative prostheses are attached to the forearm through different wrist joints. The prosthesis is suspended from the shoulder girdle of the amputee through a strap fixed on the receiving cavity, and the prosthesis has a realistic appearance after the decorative gloves whose shape, color and surface structure are similar to those of a normal human hand are installed. The decorative upper arm prosthesis is lightweight, easy to operate, and capable of passive movement.

Cable-controlled upper arm prosthesis

The most common types of prostheses. The hand and wrist joint devices are the same as the hand and wrist joint devices used in the cable-controlled forearm prosthesis, and the structure is similar to that of the cable-controlled elbow prosthesis. The forearm tube and the upper arm tube are mostly made of plastic and are connected through the elbow joint. The elbow flexion mechanism of the elbow joint is an active lock structure, which can be controlled by the cable to achieve active elbow flexion and can also be locked at any angle. The prosthesis is suspended from the amputee’s shoulder girdle by means of a harness attached to the socket. The prosthesis has a lifelike appearance when fitted with a decorative glove that resembles a normal human hand in shape, color and surface structure.
